Back in the Saddle?

After attending CalArts in 1992-1993, I moved back up to Washington, and then was accepted to NNC in Idaho to complete a liberal arts degree in Art/ History. After testing at Disney Studios for In-betweener position, and not being accepted, I continued on my career path of teaching art. But after consideration of the facts that teachers do not make a good living, I decided to venture into architecture. So, in 1997 I was accepted to UI in Moscow Idaho and completed my 5 year degree in 3 years for a BA in Architecture.
In a search for my niche, I worked for Albertson's store design, McGranahan Architects, the City of Bend Oregon, and most recently Daniel Cook Architects in Utah. After a bitter divorce this year, I now am reconsidering my career and deciding I want to do what I first wanted to do...animate! I am working on my portfolio once again, and look forward to the challenge of coming back to LA and going at it again. I am looking at schools in the LA area, and most likely will try to get back in to CalArts. I feel that I still have the talent I once had that got me the interview and test at Disney, but with a little rusty strokes. I have a good eye for buildings and structures, and feel that with my architecture knowledge and background in design, I can contribute more now than before to the animation industry. I just need to commit myself to drawing each day once again, going to the zoo, park or malls.
David Pimentel and I had a great time in school, and he still inspires me to this day. I hope to be back in LA soon and rekindle my friendships with all those I left in the business. It's been too long being away.
